Facebook is a great thing. It lets you keep in touch with your long lost friends, post embarrassing family photos and is a message board for the world to interact with you.

Facebook was how Sin Chew’s reporter Cheah Chin Liang got in touch with us to feature Penang Street Food. We have to thank him for his excellent spread in the Northern edition which featured this website prominently, along with the Penang Street Food iPhone app. However, I personally have to apologise for my poor Hokkien! How does one say “turn-by-turn navigation” in Hokkien?

The news coverage was pretty much similar to The Star article with one exception, Sin Chew pointed out that the Penang Street Food app selection of the twelve must-try street food was slightly different to that of Penang Tourism Board’s selection. The state’s official selection had also included Ice Kacang (shaved ice dessert with red beans), seafood, Chee Cheong Fun (rice noodle roll with shrimp paste and sweet sauce), Chicken Rice and Satay.  While, the app included Char Kway Kak, Koay Teow Thing, Oh Chien and Rojak.  It all points to one thing, Penang has such a wealth of great food that makes it so difficult to it narrow down to a list of twelve!

I guess the only way to go is to expand the listing…

Update (10 June 2010): The online version of the Sin Chew coverage on Penang Street Food can be viewed here.
